Some of the popular types of accommodation in Zimbabwe are luxury and self-catering or family lodges, safari camps, independent camping, houseboats and hotels/guest houses in the more built-up tourist areas (Victoria Falls, Hwange and in the bigger cities). A brief overview of the accommodation style/type is detailed below. Please visit each destination to view accommodation and activities available per location.
Zimbabwean cuisine is a fusion of flavors influenced by indigenous traditions and immigrant communities, with a tempting array of traditional dishes. The food in Zimbabwe is distinguished by a unique blend of flavours with traditional cooking techniques. There are however numerous restaurants, hotels and lodges that serve both traditional meals and pretty much whatever other "global" cuisine you can imagine - pasta's, seafood, grills and there are loads of regional and internationally recognized franchise outlets such as KFC, Nando's etc.

Zimbabwe boast several award-winning safari lodges, exclusive camps and high-end hotels that cater to travelers who require a fully inclusive experience. Rates are quoted per night (fully inclusive "FI" or full board "FB") that will include the costs of all accommodation, catering, activities, and usually transfers to the lodge or hotel. Full board is similar - but may exclude drinks and activities. Transfers may be at an extra cost.
Often set in extraordinarily beautiful, and exclusive locations. These facilities are luxurious, tastefully furnished and offer world class cuisine, comfort and service. A unique "once-in-a-lifetime" adventure. Let us facilitate the magic!
Zimbabwe's award-winning exclusive camps cater to those with an adventurous spirit and discernment for elegant camping - affectionately referred to as "glamping." Our exclusive camps are often bewildering - with respect to fully functional, tasteful accommodation and facilities that appear out of nowhere it seems. The chefs present culinary art on a plate; often with not more than gas or fire; the camp team of inspiring bush architects create a tented palace. The service would make your inner Royal Highness be "Royaling" from sunrise to sunset! Safe in the knowledge that your guides are masters of their trade and the true wildlife craftsmen of Africa.
A guided walking safari in Africa is one of the most captivating and holistic African experience and encounters that allows you to explore the wilderness on foot/canoe, accompanied by a specialist company and crew. Typically entails an Expert Guide: these chaps know their stuff. They kinda makes Chuck Norris look like a bit of a pansy. It's a fully immersive experience amongst the sights and sounds of the African bush. You’ll have the opportunity to observe wildlife up close, from tiny insects to majestic animals. Medicinal Plants and Stories, animal tracking, ecosystems insights and quite often community interaction. Walking safaris and guided expeditions (also by canoe!) can vary from a few hours to several days; and across borders with your tented camps popping up like luxurious desert oases. Accommodation can be combined with luxury permanent bush camps, fly camps, roving camps and semi-permanent tented camps.
Family-friendly self-catering accommodation provides an excellent option for families seeking flexibility, comfort and often, affordability.
Family/self-catering usually offers a private space, often ample outdoor space, kitchen facilities, living Areas, bathrooms and bedrooms:
Multiple bedrooms cater to families of different sizes. You’ll find single beds, double beds, or bunk beds. Bedding and linens are usually provided. Most family-friendly self-catering accommodations offer the freedom to create your own schedule, cook meals together, and enjoy quality time in a cozy and private setting.
A boutique hotel is a small, stylish hotel with a distinct character, intentional design and decor, and personalized service. Zimbabwe boasts several super-classy and stylish small hotels or (often) family run lodges. These are usually smaller facilities but a little larger than the classic B & B that are typically even more intimate, often limited to just a few rooms. Our Zimbo B&Bs offer a cozy, home-like atmosphere. Let us not forget out great hotel chains, let's face it - they are there when we need them! The Ronny Reliable's that we all know and love. But in true Zimbo style we also have some ridiculously sublime accommodation that will leave you more breathless than a CrossFit workout.
Houseboat accommodation on Lake Kariba offers a unique and captivating experience for travelers. Consider cruising Lake Kariba which is one of the largest man-made lakes in the world. The lake covers over 5,500 square kilometers and whilst you aren't going to cover that whole area on your charter, it is one of the best ways to experience the vistas, wildlife, birdlife, fishing and sunsets. It's almost impossible not to relax! Houseboats come in various sizes and styles, catering to different preferences. They provide a floating home where you can enjoy the tranquility of the water, watch wildlife, and fish to your heart’s content. They range from Pontoon Houseboats: spacious and stable, often accommodating larger groups. They offer comfortable cabins, lounges, and outdoor decks. Yachts: Yacht-style houseboats provide elegance and luxury. Cabin Cruisers: These smaller houseboats offer cozy cabins and are ideal for couples or small families. All houseboats have a crew to drive, cook, clean and cater to your requirements. They are also great fun, knowledgeable and awesome people to have assist you on your holiday.
In terms of African safaris - these are often the best deals. A way for you to soak up and savour Mama Africa at its dustiest, wildest and purest on a walking safari - and then combining that with a luxurious soak in a hot tub overlooking plains game. Combo deals will often start at a lodge; followed by a bit of an adventure to a mobile camp, or roving camp. A bit of a walk or canoe safari for our intrepid travelers (we even have some bicycle safari action in Hwange - no jokes)....a lift back to main camp on a tram or by light aircraft. These are basically where our bespoke safari creativity sparkles. Whilst there are several awesome and epic existing combo deals - we encourage you to challenge us to meet your expectation of an African dream adventure.
